Nominations now open: Carer Friendly Business Awards ceremony goes virtual in 2020
Nominations are open for Carers Queensland’s Carer Friendly Business Awards 2020 and for the first time in 17 years, winners and carers who nominated them, will be celebrated in a virtual awards ceremony on Wednesday 14 October.
Carers Queensland’s Carer Friendly Business Awards recognise and celebrate employers, employees, and businesses that go the extra mile to make life better for unpaid carers.
Every year, in the lead-up to National Carers Week (11–17 October), carers are asked to nominate businesses or individuals who deserve recognition for exceptional service or carer friendly employment practices.
Nominations are for Queensland only and made under three categories including Great Employee, Great Employer, and Great Business.
Carers Queensland Chair, Jim Toohey said now more than ever, as the whole world faces the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s important to recognise the people who are making a difference in our communities.
“It’s been a challenging year, but one that has made us think differently. We are so excited to be able to virtually connect with our community this year,” Mr Toohey said.
“There are 533,200 unpaid carers in Queensland and there are many businesses and individuals who continuously demonstrate their understanding of the challenges associated with caring, they go that extra mile to support them and help us create carer-friendly communities,” he added.
“At Carers Queensland we work to make life better by connecting and enriching the lives of people in our community. Our online event is a great opportunity to bring together carers and industry to share their experiences and celebrate National Carers Week along with their achievements and contribution,” he said.
State winners of the Carer Friendly Business Awards will be announced during the live-streaming event. The virtual ceremony is a free event and will feature a range of speakers and special guests.
