Launch of the Girls In Resources Life Skills (GIRLS) mentoring program

QLD RESOURCES COUNCIL LAUNCHES ‘GIRLS’ MENTORING PROGRAM ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 

The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) is excited for the launch, on International Women’s Day, of the Girls In Resources Life Skills (GIRLS) mentoring program, hosted by the QRC’s Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA) and Women in Mining and Resources in Queensland (WIMARQ) in Brisbane.

With a 116 percent increase in mentee applications for the program since its unveiling three years ago, 20 Year 12 students from across Queensland have been selected to participate. 

The mentees, who are drawn from QMEA schools across the state, are travelling to Brisbane for the launch.  They will also attend the 2021 QRC/WIMARQ International Women’s Day Resources Awards for Women on Wednesday (10 March) – an annual sell-out event showcasing the inspiring women in Queensland’s resources sector.
