2024 Education sector webinars start today!

Our July webinars for those working in the education sector start today!

Our friends at Copyright Agency, Screenrights and APRA AMCOS will be joining us to update us on the licences available to educational institutions including schools, universities, TAFEs and RTOs.

These webinars are facilitated and co-presented by ACC lawyers in our practical one-hour sessions.

Webinar schedule:

Copyright Fundamentals - Monday 29 July 2024, 1-2 pm AEST

This is a general session aimed at those who want a high-level understanding of copyright.  Everyone is welcome to attend - not just our education sector friends.

Topics include:

  • What is copyright and what does it protect.

  • Copyright ownership, duration, exclusive rights and infringement.

  • Exceptions to copyright infringement and risk management.

  • Moral rights of creators and moral rights infringement.

Education: Statutory Licensing - Copyright Agency & Screenrights* - Tuesday 30 July 2024, 1-2 pm AEST

Liesl Fitzpatrick Copyright Agency’s Senior Manager, Education Licensing and Screenrights’ Head of Licensing, Scott James will join us to discuss education statutory licensing.

Topics include:

  • Who are Copyright Agency & Screenrights?

  • What are the statutory educational licences? Who can get them?

  • The right licence for your organisation – including schools, universities and other educational institutions.

  • What you can do under each licence, how to get one and how much they cost.

Education: Music Licensing - APRA AMCOS* -

Wednesday 31 July 2024, 1-2 pm AEST

Catharine McBride, APRA AMCOS Manager– Partnerships, Media Licensing, joins us to discuss music licensing for the education sector.

Topics include:

  • What is APRA AMCOS?

  • What educational licences are available?

  • Who can get them?

  • What you can do under each licence.

  • Copying sheet music.

  • Licensing requirements for events.

  • Music licensing for schools, TAFEs, universities and registered training organisations (RTOs) will be covered.

Digital Classroom* - Thursday 1 August 2024, 1-2 pm AEST

This session assumes knowledge from the Education: Statutory licensing - Copyright Agency & Screenrights, Education: Music licensing - APRA AMCOS, and Copyright Fundamentals sessions.

Topics include:

  • What are the copyright issues around the use of devices in the classroom.

  • Sourcing and using online resources.

  • Copyright in an online learning and teaching environment.

  • Risk liability and management.
