Interim executives' association transforms recruiting

THE Australasian Interim Executive Association (AIEA) has just launched a free Jobs Board to benefit its members.

AIEA launched in October 2013 and already has more than 1400 members. AIEA is now inviting human resources (HR) managers, recruiters and small-to-medium enterprise (SMEs) owners to post vacancies on the Jobs Board for free. 

AIEA founding chairman, Mal Walker said AIEA membership had now reached a critical mass “to be able to address the needs of companies for experienced, high level managers to fill CxO, project management, operations and other managerial level roles”.

“Recruiters, HR managers and SME owners are invited to submit their vacancies to the AIEA Jobs Board for circulation to the members,” Mr Walker said.

“To fill difficult, complex or time-critical roles, the advertiser can gain access to the AIEA membership of seasoned executives.”

Mr Walker said a short-list of candidates, matching the advertiser’s job criteria, is delivered within 48 hours. The vacancy advertising is free to use and he said AIEA did not charge the advertiser any fees and there were no contracts to sign.

“The AIEA members are not just ordinary business people, they are seasoned executives who are prepared to deploy on an interim basis, be it a contract, a consultancy, FIFO or a high-level, part-time role. This includes board positions,” Mr Walker said.

“Whilst all are structured for interim work, 58 percent of the members have stated that they are prepared to accept a permanent role that appeals to them.

“We now have members located throughout Australia and New Zealand and expect to double or triple our numbers over the next few months.”

AIEA is an industry and business body formed to represent executives and managers that are recognised for their practical, hands-on skills and a broad understanding of the total business environment.

AIEA operates in a similar way to many other institutes and associations in the business landscape, such as the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI ) for HR managers and recruiters, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Australia and Engineers Australia. Mr Walker said many AIEA members were also members of these other organisations.

“The reason why someone will also join AIEA is that AIEA specialises in executives who are self-employed and continually seeking new opportunities,” Mr Walker said.

“Many of the job successes are generated member-to-member, without the direct involvement of AIEA or its corporate affiliates.

“It’s not just interim assignments either; almost 40 percent of the roles that AIEA membership has leveraged are permanent executive positions,” he said.

“It’s a bit like AICD and the others, but for executives seeking a hands-on job,” Mr Walker said.

“We have been surveying our members to find out what motivated them to join industry groups like AIEA. Attending networking events (breakfasts, lunches and focussed lectures) was highly regarded. As was the recognition that membership brings, such as the post-nominal and certification.

“But the major motivation for all was the opportunity to be introduced to a project or role that brought in income. This is why we have developed the AIEA Jobs Board, and made it totally free to advertise job vacancies.”
