Global travel tech leader to headline summit, plus 11 new awards added

Mumbrella’s Travel Marketing Summit and Travel Marketing Awards return for 2018, with global and local speakers already confirmed and an expanded awards including a sit down dinner ceremony and a raft of new award categories to enter.

Headlining the summit is Travelport’s Simon Ferguson, VP and Managing Director, Northern Europe. He will fly in from London to discuss how technology is disrupting the industry and how to keep up with a rapidly evolving market.

Also taking the stage will be Brand USA’s Matt Fletcher, who will join a panel discussing the new tourism environment for the USA and what it means for the travel industry worldwide. In addition, Hari Nair from Expedia Media Solutions will present a session on smart data and it’s power to transform the way a travel brand markets itself.

Contiki’s Head of Marketing is also confirmed to front a panel of experts discussing the latest trends in youth travel, a market segment whose tastes are continually being redefined; while in another session, the Co-Founder of MyTravelResearch.com will outline the biggest trends to expect for the year ahead.

The conference will be followed by the Travel Marketing Awards during a dinner ceremony. Entries are now open and full award category and criteria information can be found below.

USA and the New World of Travel Marketing

In 2016, the USA was the third most-visited country by Australians - more than one million of us made the trek across the Pacific. But it is going through its most significant transformation in decades, changing the shape of its systems, politics and beliefs. Has this had an effect on tourism? And what have brands and industry bodies who are working to promote tourism in the USA actually experienced? How are they marketing travel to the USA? This panel will uncover USA as a brand in 2018 and beyond.

The Power of Data: What You Don’t Know About Your Audience

To build an effective campaign, travel marketers need to go beyond basic demographics and delve into the smart data points, such as how a destination performs against its competitors, what features of a hotel room might sway the mindset of a potential guest, what type of imagery they’re most likely to be drawn to and more. Learn how you can market based on data, convert customers during the shopping process and drive more awareness through a deeper understanding of your audience.
