"Donating your money to charity: What's the risk and how much gets to where it should?"
Although our favourite charity may have all the right intentions, quite often the emotional aspects of a good cause, don’t always ensure efficient and lean delivery of the charities' services.
The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) is the independent national regulator of charities. It is Australia’s peak charity governance body, aimed at ensuring that ALL charities are providing the best outcomes for benefactors and donors.
The ACNC has been set up to achieve the following objects:
- maintain, protect and enhance public trust and confidence in the sector through increased accountability and transparency
- support and sustain a robust, vibrant, independent and innovative not-for-profit sector
- promote the reduction of unnecessary regulatory obligations on the sector
As the ACNC Assistant Commissioner on Charity Services, David is responsible for the provision and overall management of the ACNC's one-to-one services to charities, the ACNC’s portal and communications.
David previously held senior roles at the Charity Commission of England and Wales. He has served as a board member and volunteer on a number of not-for-profit organisations.
Join us for this boardroom lunch as David discuss the role of the commission in regulating charities and other not-for-profits .
